Iron & Wine
Currently gearing up for the release of his forthcoming album Ghost on Ghost Iron & Wine‘s Same Beam has taken a bit of a sidestep to premiere a track that won’t appear on the record, but will be featured on the BBC America show Copper. A cover of Stephen Foster “Hard Times Come Again No More,” originally written back in 1854, Beam’s piano-led take on the song matches perfectly with the period asthetic of the unique cop drama, which follows an Irish-American detective investigating crimes in New York’s Five Points in the year 1865 (think Gangs of New York without the scene-chewing method-acting of Daniel Day-Lewis).
Click here to listen to the rendition on Rolling Stone. Copper premieres Sunday, June 23 at 10 p.m. Ghost on Ghost arrives April 16 on Nonesuch.
