Listen: Karen O - “Moon Song” (feat. Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig)
Moon Song EP Out This Week
Feb 11, 2014 Yeah Yeah Yeahs
For Spike Jonze’s latest directorial effort Her, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ frontwoman Karen O co-wrote with Jonze a quietly beautiful ballad titled “The Moon Song” to best express the love between a man and an operating system. Yesterday Rolling Stone debuted a new version of the song that features Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig.
“It’s wild because ‘The Moon Song’ was written and recorded in the most humble of circumstances; at my dining room table, a few paces away from the couch I read the script for Her for the first time,” says Karen O. “I was really excited at the prospect of getting to record it with a male vocalist. Ezra was super cool and open, he slipped into character like a champ and damn he’s got the goods.”
You can listen to the new duet version via the stream below. Nominated for an Oscar for Best Original Song, “The Moon Song” and all of its alternate versions are scheduled to appear on a special three-track EP this week on iTunes.
