Metronomy are releasing a new album, Summer 08, this Friday (July 1) via Because Music. Previously the British band shared the album’s first single, “Old Skool,” as well as a video for the song, “Back Together,” and “Night Owl.” Now the band, led by main creative force Joseph Mount, have shared another song from the album, “Hang Me Out to Dry.” It is a duet between Mount and Swedish pop star Robyn that starts like something from the Twin Peaks soundtrack before growing into a fun electro-pop number. An early version of the track was recorded for their 2011 album The English Rivera, this version was mixed by Erol Alkan. Listen to the official YouTube audio below, followed by Zane Lowe’s earlier Beats 1 premiere of the song in which he also interviews Mount about the song, working with Robyn, and balancing fatherhood with the band.

Summer 08 was written, recorded, and produced entirely by Mount. “Old Skool” features scratching from Beastie Boys’ Mix Master Mike. Mount says he recorded most of the album over the course of two weeks last year and it finds him returning to the process that brought forth his 2008 breakthrough record Nights Out, which was followed by the Mercury Prize-nominated The English Rivera and 2014’s Love Letters. Summer 08 was recorded in Black Box Studios in France and was mixed by Bob Clearmountain (David Bowie) and Neal Pogue (OutKast). The press release compares it to Bowie and OutKast, as well as Daft Punk.
