Listen: Savoy Motel Share Jay Reatard-Inspired Song - “Sorry People”
Savoy Motel Due Out October 21 via What's Your Rupture?
Sep 01, 2016
The Dandy Warhols
Savoy Motel are a promising new band from Nashville who have little to do with that city’s storied country music scene. Instead they embrace a dirty 1970s glam rock vibe with hints of soul, boogie, power pop, and even disco. They are releasing their self-titled debut album on October 21 via cool New York indie label What’s Your Rupture? and have now shared the album’s second single, “Sorry People.” The song is inspired by the late musician Jay Reatard, who was a friend to Savoy Motel bassist/vocalist Jeffrey Novak, who explains in a press release that it’s “a song based on the late Jay Reatard’s skewed philosophy of never apologizing for anything, even though I remember him telling me he was sorry about countless crazy things in the past.” Listen below, followed by the album’s tracklist and some tour dates opening for The Dandy Warhols.
