When SOAK (aka the 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Northern Ireland named Bridie Monds-Watson) played Under the Radar's day party at SXSW this year, the audience was in rapt attention, despite the fact that she was performing solo acoustic, just her voice and her guitar. But that was enough to keep the audience silent (a rare feat at SXSW or any festival). SOAK's debut album, Before We Forgot How to Dream, is out June 2 via Rough Trade. But in the meantime she's found time to cover St. Vincent's 2014 single "Digital Witness."

Rookie premiered the haunting and stripped back version and asked Monds-Watson about the cover and why she likes St. Vincent (aka Annie Clark). "I like music that's entertaining and you can't tell what the next line is gonna be," Monds-Watson said. "She just makes things that are really interesting, and you can hear something new each time you listen. It's really well-textured."

Check out the video below, followed by SOAK's upcoming U.S. tour dates. Also be sure to pick Under the Radar's current print issue (the one with Tame Impala on the cover) to read an interview with SOAK.
