Part of a Planned Tribute Album
For a band who has busted a Guinness Book World Record, covered Erykah Badu (and Amanda Palmer) in who knows what, and sold skulls both real and gummy, this news seems downright tame. But apparently Flaming Lips are in the process of recording a King Crimson covers album. Take a listen to their first offering, a reworking of 12-minute King Crimson tune “Moonchild” featuring New Fumes, below.

This version of “Moonchild” is not by Flaming Lips with New Fumes, but rather New Fumes with The Flaming Lips. Actually, it’s all New Fumes except for Wayne Coyne’s lead vocal.
As for the album, it’s already recorded and mixed, it just need to be mastered (probably for limited edition vinyl). It’s spearheaded by Wayne Coyne but features Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Linear Downfall, and, of course, New Fumes. The tracklist and full details are here:
