Having delved into the culture of video games last year with Portal 2 and their song “Exile Vilify,” The National are now crossing into the medium of television, appearing on the season two soundtrack of Game of Thrones. Utilizing frontman Matt Berninger’s perfectly suited bass register, the band plays a version of the minstrel ballad “The Rains of Castamere,” with words written by series creator George R.R. Martin. Listen to it below. Game Of Thrones: Season Two the soundtrack will be released on June 19 via Varese Sarabande.
