Listen: The Shins - “Simple Song”
First Single Off Upcoming Port of Morrow
How this excellent piece of awesomeness slipped through the cracks yesterday we here at the UTR news staff will never know (the shame is unbearable), but better late then never: James Mercer and The Shins unveiled the first new song off the band's forthcoming new album Port of Morrow. Entitled "Simple Song," the track hardly seems suited for the name, swelling with "ah-ah" reverbed vocals, plicking piano fills, psychedelic guitar slides. Now available for pre-order, Port of Morrow is scheduled for release on March 20 via Columbia and on Mercer's Aural Apothecary imprint on CD, digital download, vinyl, and if bought through the band's website, a limited edition deluxe version on reel-to-reel tape. The band has just a few set tour dates along the west coast at the moment, but such a low number is surely to change soon enough.
The Shins:
04-13 Las Vegas, NV - Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas - The Pool
04-22 Santa Cruz, CA - Santa Cruz Civic Auditorium
04-23 Davis, CA - Robert Mondavi Center
04-25 Reno, NV - Grand Sierra Resort & Casino
