HAIM and CHVRCHES have toured together in the past. CHVRCHES have also covered HAIM’s “Falling.” CHVRCHES performed recently at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago. HAIM wasn’t performing at the festival, but were in town for another show with Taylor Swift and stopped by the festival to watch sets by CHVRCHES and Tobias Jesso Jr. (whom they have also toured with). The Talkhouse podcast, where musicians often interview each other, was set up backstage recording interviews and a producer approached Este Haim about doing a joint interview with CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry. She said yes and soon her sisters Danielle and Alana were on board too.

Now The Talkhouse has released the conversation. Listen below as Mayberry and the Haim sisters discuss touring together, avoiding shark attacks, reworking The Sixth Sense as “I see dicks” rather than “I see dead people,” messing up and forgetting lyrics on stage, being smashed in the face by beach balls, and how to properly pronounce “GIF.” They also briefly sing the Sweet Valley High theme.
