Scotland’s Frightened Rabbit released their new album, Painting of a Panic Attack, a few weeks back via Canvasback Music/Atlantic. Today the band stopped by SiriusXM satellite radio and covered Bruce Springsteen’s “Streets of Philadelphia.” Springsteen’s original was recorded for the 1993 film Philadelphia, which was directed by Jonathan Demme and starred Tom Hanks as a gay lawyer with AIDS and Denzel Washington as a fellow lawyer who defends him for being wrongfully fired by his firm. Hanks won the Oscar for Best Actor for his performance and Springsteen won Best Original Song. Check out the cover below, followed by Springsteen’s original.
Aaron Dessner of The National produced Painting of a Panic Attack. Previously we were treated to the album’s first single, “Death Dream,” a video for “Get Out,” and the audio for “Lump Street.”
