“Who you gonna call?” “Trent Reznor!” YouTube user and mashup artist William Maranci has unleashed his latest Frankenstein creation, a mashup of Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” with Ray Parker Jr.‘s “Ghostbusters,” and it works surprisingly well. The backing music is mainly from “Ghostbusters” and all the vocals are from “Closer.” Maranci calls his creation “Closebusters.” Check it out below, followed by both videos for the original songs. Happy Halloween!

“Ghostbusters” was a 1984 hit and was of course the theme song to the spooky comedy of the same name. Not only does the “Ghostbusters” video feature the main cast of the film (Bill Murray, etc.), but also other 1980s celebrities, including John Candy, Danny DeVito, Teri Garr, George Wendt (Norm from Cheers), Chevy Chase, Peter Falk (Columbo himself), Melissa Gilbert, Al Franken, Jeffery Tambor, and Carly Simon. Ghostbusters’ director Ivan Reitman also directed the “Ghostbusters” music video, his first and, we believe, only music video to date.

Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” was a big alternative rock single 10 years later and was featured on the band’s 1994 album The Downward Spiral. Mark Romanek directed the iconic NSFW video.
