Your eyes don't deceive you. Monsters of Folk—aka Conor OberstMy Morning Jacket's Jim James, M. Ward, and producer/engineer Mike Mogis is a reality! The verdict is still out and whether this will be a runaway Traveling Wilburys-like success or a M.O.R. Highwaymen-esque novelty. The trio of songwriters are certainly in BFF material. They've joined each other on and offstage, been Under the Radar favorites, and covered each others' songs, but the build-up to this was questionable at best.

First there was this sparse, yet official-looking website and then Relix and Pitchfork chimed in with unconfirmed details. The band's publicist confirmed with us earlier today that the self-titled album will be out September 22. The record was produced by Bright Eyes mainstay Mike Mogis and features "original material by all three songwriters," states Relix. Details are very, very slim but rumors are circulating about a MOF fall tour. More information will follow as we get it.
