Mark Ronson Announces New Album Featuring Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and Bruno Mars
Uptown Special Features Lyrics Written by Michael Chabon and is Due Out Jan. 27
Mark Ronson has announced the forthcoming release of his fourth full-length album, Uptown Special. Due out Jan. 27, the record was written and produced over 18 months in studios across London, Memphis, Los Angeles and New York City.
In an interesting collaboration, the majority of the album's lyrics were actually written by Pulitzer-winning American novelist Michael Chabon (The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay). Ronson's favorite living author, Chabon became an integral part of the songwriting process and the album's narrative direction, often working with Ronson and his vocalists in the recording studio.
Additional support came in the form of Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, who contributed vocals to three songs, and lay down drums, guitars, synths, and background vocals on several others. In anticipation of the record's upcoming release, Ronson has shared the LP's first single, "Uptown Funk," featuring Bruno Mars. Ronson is scheduled to appear as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 22, joined by Mars and another special guest vocalist.
