Marnie Stern Announces New Album
Out October 5th via Kill Rock Stars
NYC guitar destroyer Marnie Stern is set to release her third long-player on October 5 via Kill Rock Stars. The record's title, simply Marnie Stern, certainly won't grant the blog attention of her breakout 2008 sophomore release, This Is It and I Am It and You Are It and So Is That and He Is It and She Is It and It Is It and That Is That. (Try saying that three times fast.) Thankfully, Stern's still up to her old tricks on the clamoring, four-minute opener "For Ash." Download it in our Media section.
The LP features longtime cohort/Hella drum maven, Zach Hill. Also, Stern's boyfriend, Matthew Flegel of Women, plays bass, and Mars Volta mixer Lars Stalfors keeps Stern's guitar-drum thrash crisp and fierce. In a press release, Stern notes, "I wanted to pay more attention to the delicate and subtly layered spaces in between sound and just make things louder and fuller where I didn't on my last two records... It's direct and honest and real. I’m no longer taking cover under guitar lines or yelping vocals."
