Memorial Service for Gil Scott-Heron Planned

Service to Take Place Thursday, June 2

A memorial service for revered poet and musician Gil Scott-Heron, who died last Friday at the age of 62, has been scheduled for Thursday, June 2, in New York City. The service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Riverside Church; a viewing will follow in the evening, between 6 to 9 p.m., at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home at 81st Street and Madison Avenue. The evening viewing is open to public, allowing admirers of the "godfather of rap" to pay their respects.
