Minor Victories
Minor Victories is a supergroup featuring Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell, Mogwai’s Stuart Braithwaite, Editors’ Justin Lockey, and Hand Held Cine Club’s James Lockey. The project was announced last year and now the band’s debut album has officially been announced and the group has shared their first single, “A Hundred Ropes,” via its video. The album also includes a previously announced duet between Goswell and Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek and a guest appearance from The Twilight Sad’s James Graham. The self-titled album is due out June 3 via Fat Possum in the U.S. (and [PIAS] in the rest of the world). Hand Held Cine Club (the Lockey brothers) directed the black & white video, which is an extremely slow motion shot of samurai charging towards the camera (it’s only 10 seconds of real time footage, slowed down to nearly four minutes). Below is the video, tracklist, and album cover.
