Moses Sumney released his debut full-length album, Aromanticism, today via Jagjaguwar. He has now shared a video for “Lonely World.” Allie Avital directed the black & white clip, which features Sumney on an alien world where he is seduced by a strange creature. Watch it below. You can also stream the whole album below.
Avital and Sumney had this to say about the video in a joint statement: “‘Lonely World’ is a myth about alienation, featuring Moses Sumney as the sole human on a solitary planet, and Sasha Lane as a coy creature he discovers that seduces him into the void. It’s a story about our inevitable desire for love and closeness and conversely, our instincts to destroy those that offer us those comforts.”
Aromanticism includes the singles “Doomed” (for which there was both a regular video and a live performance video), the beautiful “Quarrel” (which was one of our Songs of the Week), and “Indulge Me” (which was also a Song of the Week). Sumney also recently covered Björk‘s “Come to Me,” from her 1993 album Debut.
Aromanticism also features new versions of previously shared tracks “Plastic” and “Lonely World” and follows his well-received Laminations EP from 2016.
