Aug 08, 2011
M. Ward
The MTK: Music to Know Festival, which was scheduled to take place this coming weekend in East Hampton, NY, has been cancelled due to low ticket sales. M. Ward, who was scheduled to perform at MTK, has also been forced to cancel two of his east coast tour dates due to the cancellation of the festival. The MTK lineup was to also include Vampire Weekend, Bright Eyes, Matt & Kim, Tame Impala, Cold War Kids, Ra Ra Riot, Chromeo, and others.
A statement on the MTK website [Link “MTK website” to ]http://www.musictoknow.com/] said, “Despite our unique vision and arranging a world-class lineup, ticket sales were not adequate to allow the event to continue…. We too are filled with deep disappointment. We pledge to endure during this difficult time with the same integrity and professionalism displayed throughout the creation of this event.” Ticket holders should check the festival’s website in the next week for info on refunds.
M. Ward’s canceled dates are:
Thursday 11th August - Wellmont Theatre in Montclair, New Jersey (w/ Kurt Vile And The Violators) - CANCELED
Friday 12th August - MASS MoCa in North Adams, Massachusetts - CANCELED
In a press release Ward stated, “I’m extremely disappointed that Music to Know has been canceled. Without the funding we can’t make the trip out there. We sincerely apologize to everyone who had already bought tickets. We’ll be back as soon as we can.”

What were they thinking? Horrible timing of a concert with half the demographic on vacation or heading to/back to college. Just check the Back-to-School aisle at Target.
