As announced on their blog, British bluegrass-esque indie band Mumford and Sons is starting a book club. In a blog entry, resident literary fan Marcus Mumford explains his reasoning, "Firstly, I want to read more. I believe that you write what you read, just in the same way that if you're a musician, you play what you listen to. So maybe all of our writing will improve. Secondly, Oh! The glory of discussion! We get to hear what each other has to say about these books."

However, Mumford goes on to note that, "I don't claim to be a 'critic,' plus no one ever built a statue of a critic. Reviews are weird, you never know if they are supposed to be subjective or objective. Someone is getting paid to give their opinion and then it's claimed to be Bible Truth."

Want to get in on the discussion? The first book Mumford-approved book is All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy.
