School of Seven Bells
Earlier this year School of Seven Bells revealed that guitarist Benjamin Curtis had been diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma and that in addition to chemothherapy treatments was waiting for a match for bone-marrow transplant. To help one of their own numerous musicians are helping to raise money for Curtis’ medical bills with a benefit concert and auction.
Put together by the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, Wiz Kid Mgmt, and GŌST, the upcoming event “Put Your Sad Down,” will take place Aug. 22 at the Bowery Ballroom in New York City and feature performances from Interpol’s Paul Banks and The Strokes’ Albert Hammond Jr. DJ sets will also be performed by Devendra Banhart with The Strokes’ Fabrizio Moretti, Alexa Chung, and DJ MomJeans (actor Danny Masterson).
Throughout the night a silent auction will take place featuring donated items from Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys, The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Regina Spektor, The Hives, The Polyphonic Spree, Aziz Ansari, David Cross, and more. The auction will continue for an additional week online at Charitybuzz.
