Back From The Dead to be Released June 16 and to Include Three Jazz Oddysseys

Spinal Tap
If you haven’t been fortunate enough to see the cult classic film This Is Spinal Tap, I’d be willing to bet that you’ve missed a fair share of jokes in its reference. 2009 marks the 25th anniversary of the film’s release, and in its honor, Spinal Tap is releasing their first new album since the early 1990s. Back From The Dead is set for a June 16th release date and features studio versions of songs from the movie as well as six new songs.
Produced by CJ Vanston (keyboards on Break Like The Wind and musical director for three tours), guests include Def Leppard’s Phil Collen, Keith Emerson of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, John Mayer, and Steve Vai.
Other goodies include an hour-long DVD with the band’s own track-by-track commentary inside of a pop-up package, along with action figures of each member and a proportionally sized Stonehenge. The band will also be releasing the album as an 11” limited edition vinyl (get it, since they turn it up to 11, they’re releasing an 11 inch, instead of 10 inch).
Rather than going through a major distributor or what have you, Back From The Dead will be handled by Artist2Market and digitally through INgrooves.
The band’s official website will be offering a free download of “Saucy Jack” from David St. Hubbins’ unfinished musical about Jack the Ripper. Previously unreleased, of course.
Here’s the tracklist:
1. Tonight I’m Gonna Rock You Tonight
2. Back From The Dead
3. (Funky) Sex Farm
4. Rock ‘n’ Roll Creation
5. Jazz Oddyssey I
