Patti Smith, The Swell Season, and The Antlers to Play Emergency Benefit Concerts for Haiti
New York's City Winery and YELE Host Four Nights of Benefit Performances
It's been several days since a magnitude 7.0 earthquake hit an unprepared Haiti, and the aftermath is astounding. With buildings in ruin and countless lives lost, the recovery effort will not be a brief one. Many organizations are reaching out to gather and provide support and New York's City Winery is teaming up with Wyclef Jean's YELE to help the effort. A series of emergency benefit concerts have been set up at City Winery with all of the proceeds going to YELE, an organization dedicated to providing aid to Haiti while building global awareness.
The concerts are set for January 20, 21, 24 and 25 and the organizations hope to bring in a goal of $100,000 over the four nights. Acts scheduled to perform include Patti Smith, The Swell Season, The Antlers, Lewis Black, Nada Surf, Rosanne Cash, Madeleine Peyroux, as well as 15 as yet unnamed "indie artists."
Ticket prices range from $20 to $60. Ticketing information as well as all details of the event will be available on City Winery's website.
