Paul Weller Records The Beatles’ “Birthday” For Paul McCartney’s 70th
Available June 18 Only
Jun 18, 2012 Paul Weller
To honor and celebrate the 70th birthday of Paul McCartney, Paul Weller has announced plans to release a cover of The Beatles White Album track “Birthday,” with all proceeds from its sale going to the War Child charity.
Recorded in at Weller’s Black Barn Studios, the track will go on sale June 18 (McCartney’s actual birthday) for one day on at Amazon for 70 cents. According to Weller, “I wanted to do something for Paul’s 70th, the man’s been, and still is, an immense and enduring inspiration for me. It was him and his three friends that made me want to pick up a guitar in the first place. I saw him play live recently and he inspired me just as much as ever, he was brilliant. I just hope he likes our little version, a token of my and the bands love for him and his music. Rock on Macca.”
