Phil Collins Recreates His Classic Album Covers With Photos of Him Now for Deluxe Reissues
Deluxe Versions of Face Value and Both Sides Due Out November 6

Phil Collins
1980s hitmaker and Genesis frontman/drummer Phil Collins will be releasing deluxe reissues of two of his albums on November 6 via Atlantic, his 1981 debut solo album Face Value and 1993’s Both Sides. What makes this news somewhat interesting is that Collins has recreated the original album covers with new photos of how his face looks now. See the new covers above.
The reissues are the first part of the “Take a Look at Me Now” retrospective reissue campaign of all eight of his solo albums. The reissues will include demos and live tracks and will be released in 2-CD and digital formats, as well as on 180-gram heavyweight vinyl (as a single LP for Face Value and a double LP for Both Sides). There will also be box set versions in both CD and vinyl that include both albums and leave space for the other six reissues to come.
Collins commented on the reissues in a press release: “I’ve always been quite proud of my demos and have often made them available as B-sides, but with a few exceptions, I have avoided including those on these collections. Instead, I’ve focused on how nicely the songs developed when played on stage, rather than showing how they originated.”
Below are the tracklists for the reissues, followed by an instrumental demo of “Against All Odds” that surfaced online some years back and the original video for Face Value‘s opening track “In The Air Tonight” (which has close to 70 million views on YouTube!). And just for the fun of it, I’ve also included The Postal Service’s cover of “Against All Odds.”

Phil is one creepy-looking fellow.
Oh well, good thing he’s up to do some more stuff, a Genesis reunion with Gabriel and Hackett would be awesome as well. :)
