Australian psych-rockers POND released a new album, Tasmania, back in March via Interscope and are releasing a new one, Sessions, on November 8, also via Interscope. It features newly recorded live studio performances of songs from across their discography. Now they have shared a video for “Hand Mouth Dancer,” a song featured in different versions on both albums. Elliott Arndt directed the slightly surreal video, which seems to be for the Tasmania version of the song. Watch it below, followed by the band’s upcoming tour dates.

POND’s Jay Watson had this to say about Sessions in a press release: “We wanted to capture how the band has been playing live lately and commit that to tape while we were in the middle of a long tour. As you play the same song for years, or even as a single tour rolls on, the way you play the songs mutates. Little inflections and fills become part of the song, and the structures and even the overall feeling and intent of the songs change. I always loved listening to my favorite bands’ Peel Sessions and wanted something of our own in that vein. We hope you dig it!”

Previously POND shared the Sessions version of “Don’t Look At the Sun (Or You’ll Go Blind).”

Tasmania was the follow-up to 2017’s The Weather. It featured two songs the band shared last year: “Sixteen Days” and “Burnt Out Star” (which was one of our Songs of the Week), as well as “Daisy” (which was also one of our Songs of the Week). In March the band stopped by Australia’s Triple J radio station to take part in their Like a Version covers series, covering Madonna’s “Ray of Light.” Then they shared a video for “The Boys Are Killing Me.”

POND is Nicholas Allbrook, Jay Watson, Shiny Joe Ryan, Jamie Terry and Jamie Ireland. As with The Weather, Tasmania was produced by Tame Impala frontman Kevin Parker. POND’s Allbrook used to play bass in Tame Impala and the two bands have often shared members, including Parker.
