London-based artist Joe Simpson has been diligently working on a new project entitled, “Musician Portraits,” creating a series of oil paintings of his favorite musicians and songwriters. Set to be displayed in a solo exhibition later this year, thus far Simpson has successfully captured the faces of The National‘s Matt Berninger (above), as well as Vampire Weekend‘s Ezra Koenig, Iron & Wine‘s Sam Beam, David Gray, and Mark Ronson. With each work 60x60 cm, Simpson is looking to complete a total of 30 paintings in the series. You can check out a small gallery of his pieces here.
