Norway-based composer, arranger, and producer Alexander von Mehren has shared his new remix of a track by British band Caramel, titled "Caramel - Golden Ways (Alexander von Mehren Remix - Golden Days)," and we are pleased to premiere it. The track that this one is based on, as well as the remix itself, will both be on Caramel's upcoming debut LP Deluxe Edition due out November 22 via DuoPoly. The remix is out now as a single via Control Group. This release also marks Alexander von Mehren's first release in five years, since his 2014 remix EP Aéropop Revisited. The track glides seamlessly between varied textures, offering up a slice of the modernist grid as explored by dodecahedrons and quadrangles that round and transfigure their way about. Its warm analog tones strike right on the line between groovy and contemplative. Check out the track, as well as cover art below.
Von Mehren had this to say about the making of the track in a statement to Under the Radar: "When I first started working on the track in July, I felt very attached to their original song and found it hard to try and create something too close to what I thought was already so great. I quickly realized that I had to take the track in an entirely different direction, so I started writing a new composition by playing around with their arrangements and found additional inspiration in dreamy Italian soundtracks of the 60s and 70s."
In support of their album release, Caramel will perform a full show at Sebright Arms in London, UK, November 22nd.
