Canadian reggae-rock duo Bedouin Soundclash have returned after a nine-year hiatus with their new single "Clockwork" and we are pleased to premiere it. The song marks a drastic departure in sound for the band with their pop sensibilities coming to the fore. The track features the Preservation Hall Jazz Band on brass and is suffused with the celebratory spirit of New Orleans jazz music. Check out the track and single artwork below.
A press statement on the single reads: "'One morning I was sitting at the piano in my house and "Clock-Work" came to me, ... I thought, this is something new, I think it's a Bedouin song-I put it on a break-beat and sampled these horns from an old big band swing record and sent it off to Eon.' Eon adds, 'Jay sent me a demo and it hit me right away. The use of the breakbeat, the piano, and the horns-It still felt like Bedouin with the subtle off-beat piano but was fresh.'"
This single follows their 2010 release Light the Horizon, which saw the band partnering with Philadelphia-based musicologist King Britt.
