Premiere: Better Person – “Sentiment” Video
It’s Only You EP Out Now On Mansions and Millions
Thus far, Adam Byczkowski's Better Person project has been frequently compared to the output of late avant-pop composer Arthur Russell. That likeness has perhaps been overstated a bit--the way Byczkowski synergizes ‘80s R&B silkiness with crestfallen goth mistiness is largely his own. However, "Sentiment" is the expression of a soul that, like Russell's, is gentle, but far from fragile. Here, Byczkowski is taking a calm, clear look at the roots and byproducts of his own melancholy while feeling his way through a stark sonic environment that makes an impressionistic blur of genres.
Directed by Mortiz Freudenberg and shot in Berlin, the accompanying clip is minimal in a way that's a natural fit for the track. Check out our premiere below.
