In less than a month, Under the Radar is headed to Canada to check out the Sled Island Festival. As per our tradition, we’ll be running mixtapes from some of the artists performing at the festival. The second entry in our special series comes from Blitzen Trapper. It’s a mix that they have titled Trapper Keepers.

“This is my favorite deep funk, love songs and instrumentals, totally ready for the summer—the stuff I've spun at house parties for years,” says band member Michael Van Pelt. “All come from those blank label illegal 90s vinyl comps that have had so many rum and cokes spilled on them throughout the years that the title 'Trapper Keepers' is not just about great treasures of song, but also preserving these relics of vinyl.  All of these songs were sampled in early 90s hip-hop tunes which were a huge influence on our formative teen years, and a major touchstone for the production values of our newest record.”

Listen to the mix below. You can also revisit the previous mix in our series, by Chelsea Wolfe, here. For those headed to Canada, Sled Island just released the schedule. Plan your ultimate lineup here. Blitzen Trapper’s new album VII is out now via Vagrant Records.
