Charlotte Church has worn a lot of different hats at only 27 years old. Her newest incarnation sees her ditching the opera halls in favor of something darker, denser, and a bit more Radiohead or Kate Bush than Pavarotti. Today we’re pleased to premiere the video for Church’s new single, “Nerve.”

“‘Nerve’ is about the intense state of mind that you find yourself in after having an apocalyptic row with someone you love, the sort of row that seems like it could be terminal; the confusion of knowing that you deeply care about, and never want to be without, the person who you’ve just had a massive fight with, and the resulting emotional dissonance,” says Church of the clip. “The video is John Bland’s visual exploration of these emotions, and the results are saddening, terrifying and beautiful.”

Her new album One & Two is out now.
