This summer, author Lois Lowry’s prize-winning young adult book received its long-overdue big screen adaptation starring Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Odeya Rush, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift.

In the film, teenage Jonas (Thwaites) lives in an emotionless, egalitarian world where societal sameness is not only encouraged, but enforced. Jonas is hand-picked to become the next Receiver of Memory, the lone citizen charged with remembering humanity’s history. To do this, memories must be passed on to him by his predecessor, the Giver (Bridges). As he learns of the past, Jonas finds there’s a darker side to the world than those running it let on.

Under the Radar is premiering an exclusive behind-the-scenes clip from The Giver’s bonus materials. In this clip, Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic talks about writing “Ordinary Human,” a song written for and inspired by The Giver.

The Giver is out today on Blu-ray and DVD from Anchor Bay. To learn more about the film, check out its website.
