Nashville based southern gothic blues rockers Indianola have shared their haunting new video for "Awkward Phase," off of their forthcoming debut Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye (due out May 10), and we are pleased to premiere it. The video is a montage that features spliced footage from 1973 cult-horror movie The Driller Killer. The zombie movie's voyeuristic gaze neatly mirrors the longing found in the track's surging balladry. Check out the video, single art, as well as some tour dates below.

On the making of the track, frontman Owen Beverly had this to say: "Awkward Phase is one of the first songs that was written for this record, it comes off as a love song but honestly its more about self-reflection. Going through life changes like grief or a falling out can feel like metamorphosis, you drift between old and new versions of yourself making adjustments. It reminds me of how recordings can be out of phase, two versions of the same source working against each other. The darkness of this track represents that analogy to me, how losing someone can make your self image seem conflicted, incomplete or even distorted. We chose some eerie sounds in the production to create an unsettled feeling with moments where the instruments come and go or drop out completely mirroring the forlorn nature of the lyrics."

Indianola has garnered some notoriety on the Nashville circuit, with frontman Owen Beverly also playing in Nicole Atkins' band and several others. Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye is the group's debut LP that synthesizes the group's fascination with 60's rock and roll culture with modern production and sensibilities.
