M-Band (Hörður Bjarnason to his friends) makes delicious digital music that sounds personal demons coming out to play. Since this is right up our melodic, yet dark-and-twisty alley, we asked the Icelandic musician to participate in our mixtape series. He obliged—and even threw in an original composition of his own.

“This is a mix from wide variety of music—from electronic drone to African and Indian rhythm patterns, from Eastern folk songs to hardcore techno,” says Bjarnason. “It’s all spiced up with selection of effects and a little intro placed in the very beginning.”

If you happen to be headed to Iceland, take note—M-Band will play Sonar Reykjavik on Feb 13. For the rest of us, be sure to check out his debut album Haust, out now on Raftonar.
