We’re excited to premiere the music video for “Malaise for Days,” a new single by the LA group Modern Time Machines.

Starring alongside a DeLorean once again is actress Claudia Wells, known to movie fans for playing Marty’s girlfriend, Jennifer Parker, in 1985’s Back to the Future. (You can read our interview with Wells as part our Back to the Future retrospective from 2015.) In the video the band browses a record store and vintage clothing shop, and hitches rides in classic automobiles before ending their day in a neon-soaked arcade. The video was directed by band member Ben Golomb.

Like the vintage rides featured in the video, “Malaise for Days” has an out-of-time quality to it, with a hazy guitar-driven soundscape and dual harmonies reminding us a bit of classic ‘90s shoegaze bands like Slowdive and Ride. The song will be self-released by the band as a cassette single. The Los Angeles-based band’s latest latest album, MTM, landed last spring and was produced by Josiah Mazzaschi, who engineered The Jesus and Mary Chain’s recent Damage and Joy.
