Premiere: Sasha Siem Mixtape (by:Larm Edition)
by:Larm Runs March 4-7 in Oslo, Norway
Oh, you thought that our by:Larm mix series was over, did you? Like a hidden track at the end of your favorite album, Sasha Siem has come out of the blue with one final entry. It’s a blend of songs that the Norwegian singer/songwriter calls Nature Nurture.
“My Nature Nurture mix tape opens with a sample taken from a lecture given Stockhausen in the 1970s,” she says of her picks. “Someone in the audience asks him whether the increase of electronic music means the dehumanization of sound. The eclectic collision of songs and sound-bites that follow on the mixtape—Bjork, Woodkid, Glenn Gould singing along to his rendition of Bach Goldberg Variations, Kanye, Coldplay, Max Richter's rewrite of Vivaldi, Dylan Thomas singing one of his poems— debate with each other in an attempt to answer to this question in different ways.
Listen below. For more in our by:Larm mixtape series, check out contributions from Broen, The Amazing, Long-Sam, LUGN,Vök, DNKL, AV AV AV, Kid Astray, Palmface, Redder, Tellef Raabe, and Hey Elbow. Sasha Siem’s debut full-length Most of the Boys is out now.
