Premiere: Sugar World Shares New Single “White Noise”
New Album Supercassettevision Due Out Later This Year via Sunday Records
Jul 07, 2026
Los Angeles-based duo Ryan and Katryn Stanley have been making music together for more than a decade. After getting their start with the Tallahassee bedroom pop band Naps, the pair began releasing music as Sugar World in 2019, releasing their debut album, Lost & Found, in 2022, which found them drilling down into a fuzzy and fittingly sugary blend of indie, twee, lo-fi, and electronica.
The pair have been leaning into a newly chaotic and digitized take on that sound with their latest singles, “In Magazines” and “Terra Incognita,” which are set to feature on their upcoming sophomore full-length album, Supercassettevision, due out later this year. Today they’re back with another track from the record, “White Noise,” premiering with Under the Radar.
“White Noise” offers a tight encapsulation of both the band’s sweetly melodic side and the jagged digital aesthetics of their recent singles. It has the wiry and energetic drive of a power pop song, complete with plenty of bright guitar lines and buzzing synth color, but Ryan and Katryn also render the track with compressed, blown-out production and digitized vocals. It is easy to imagine a version of the track that could have come out sounding like power pop, chiptune, or digi-core. Instead, it sounds like all of them blended into a hyperactive slurry, coming off like the aural equivalent of sour candy. The results recall bands like Hey Ily or (T-T)-b, while leaning further into unabashedly catchy melodies and pop songwriting rather than rushes of intricate emo guitar lines.
The band explains of the track, “This song is written about a person that you can’t quite shake, even years and years after the fact. But more broadly, it represents the constant nature of addiction and how it’s always present in the background. It ties in with a loose theme of technology throughout the album, which we’re so excited to be putting out through Sunday Records.”
Check out the song below, along with the band’s upcoming tour dates. Supercassettevision is due out later this year via Sunday Records.
