Trondheim Calling is a little over a week away…and we still have mixtapes from artists playing the fest pouring in. This one comes from Elvis Costello loving collective, Texum.

Here’s what the band had to say about their mix:

“Some of the tracks inspired our new record, some of the tracks are from old friends and some are from bands and artists we’re huge fans of. We’ve always loved Wilco, and still do. ‘Impossible Germany’ is a great song and arrangement, and everybody loves the guitar solo! Daniel Lanois has been a great inspiration both songwriting-wise and sonically. We also had the joy of hearing him live at Dokkhuset, the same stage that we’re playing at Trondheim Calling. Bönkers is a band from Oppdal, the same little town we originate from. They’ve released a few great records and “Taken in the Fall” is from Opp (1999). Bob Egan produced that one.

Christer Knutsen is another Norwegian guitarist/keyboardist/singer/songwriter we admire, and we’ve played “Forget this Dance” live ourselves. Erlend Ropstad is another friend, this track is from Roy it Ain’t Over Yet (2010), and he’s also releasing our new record on his label Later Gator Records.

Elvis Costello is another favorite, and this track is from the album Delivery Man, that Chris Shepard recorded. That was also one of the reasons we wanted him to mix our debut record, Different Strokes for Different Folks. Faces is a great band from another era, we love “Debris,” a song we also used to play live. Joe Henry is also a great inspiration in many ways, and we were lucky to work with his favorite sound engineer, Ryan Freeland, on our new record. He has worked on most of Henrys latest records, and a lot of other great albums too, such as Over the Rhine and Solomon Burke.

We’ve also included our first single from the upcoming album, “Pink to Gray” and “Dead Sound Guys,” a song that is also on the record, and that has never been released before. This is a premiere for that one.”

Catch up on the rest of our Trondeheim Calling mixtape series, featuring entries from Ludvig Moon, Anana,Carnival Kids>, The Fjords, and Angelica’s Elegy. For those of you joining us in Norway, start planning your personal your festival schedule here.
