
R.I.P. Etta James
Singer of Iconic Song "At Last" Has Passed Away
CNN reports that legendary soul singer Etta James has passed away at the age of 73 after a prolonged battle with leukemia. Born Jamesetta Hawkins, James was the voice behind such songs as "All I Could Do Was Cry," "Something's Got a Hold on Me" and the iconic ballad "At Last." Throughout her career James battled drug addiction with heroin, but her ability to tour and record remained strong until it was eventually impeded by her illness and dementia. James was the winner of six Grammy Awards and an inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
