Record Store Day Expands With Weekly Vinyl Tuesdays
Featuring New Exclusives
May 27, 2015 Record Store Day
Over the past several years the resurgence of vinyl has had a significant impact on bolstering the business of the world’s independent record stores.
Looking to capitalize on the format’s renewed interest, the organizers of Record Store Day’s biannual event have announced a new weekly endeavor called Vinyl Tuesdays.
As its name would suggest, every Tuesday participating retailers will offer a number of exclusive selections for potential buyers and collectors. According to a press release, five different types of releases are planned for the weekly sale: “catalog releases, commercial and promotional releases, releases made specifically for the Record Store Day indie community, vinyl editions of albums that were previously released on CD and digitally, and exclusive vinyl releases that drop before their digital editions.”
An official launch date for Vinyl Tuesdays has yet to be announced, but when it does kick off it will be offered to the international community of retailers and managed by the Dept of Record Stores/Record Store Day.
