Pussy Riot
Last Friday three members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot were convicted of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred or hostility” and sentenced to two years in prison after a guerrila performance at Moscow’s Christ the Saviour Cathedral led to their arrest back in February. While the verdict caused a great deal of protest among musical and civil rights activists, Business Insider now reports that Russian authorities are looking for the remaining members of the band. A spokesman for the Moscow police told AFP that a “probe is currently ongoing, [and] search activities are being conducted.”
While police have yet to identify their suspects, the band’s lawyer Mark Feigin warned that anyone “in a balaclava” could potentially get arrested and put on trial (via Reuters).
Below you can listen to Pussy Riot’s new song “Putin Lights Up the Fires,” which was quickly released following the judge’s sentencing.
