New Scott Pilgrim vs. the World Theatrical Trailer Released
A Trailer of Epic Epicness
This weekend saw the release of the new full-length, crazy, weird, gets-better-every-time-you-watch-it trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead) adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s series of graphic novels about a self-deprecating twentysomething (Michael Cera) who must defeat the seven evil ex-boyfriends of the girl he loves, Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). Did I mention this trailer is crazy? There’s a trippy, abstract, Speed Racer vibe coming off this thing. (Too bad it’s not going to be in 3D.) Although putting Cera up front and center as the lead in anything but a twee romantic comedy seems like a gamble, with Wright—who hasn’t let us down yet—at the helm of O’Malley’s romcom-meets-Street Fighter mashup, the audience should be in good hands.
Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World opens August 13. In the meantime, catch up with the books.
