ShadowParty is a new band that features members of New Order and Devo, among other bands. Their self-titled debut album is due out July 27 via Mute. Previously they shared the album's first single, "Celebrate." Now the song has a video that is timed to the World Cup and features boy's journey to playing football (or soccer) professionally in Mexico. They have also shared another song from the album, "Present Tense," which features the guest vocals of Denise Johnson, who co-wrote the song and was in Primal Scream from 1990 to 1995. Check out the song and video below.

In a press release ShadowParty's Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman had this to say about the "Celebrate" video (which was directed by Mexican production house Groovy Chaos): "We didn't write 'Celebrate' about football, but when we saw the treatment it worked really well, and it has turned out to be very topical! What's great about the video is that it captures the universal feelings that make the World Cup so special."

Denise Johnson had this to say about "Present Tense": "I've always liked the idea of sad songs that musically sound happy and I think that's what we've done with 'Present Tense.' Love can be hard sometimes and this song is about moving on from the hurt endured by it. It was a pleasure to co-write this with Shadowparty."

ShadowParty features former Rentals member and current Devo guitarist/keyboardist Josh Hager, Tom Chapman (former Bad Lieutenant bassist and a member of New Order since 2011), Phil Cunningham (co-founder of 1990s Britpop band Marion and New Order's guitarist since 2002), and Jeff Friedl (who drummed with Devo from 2008 to 2014). The album features various special guests, including The Verve's founding guitarist Nick McCabe, LA-based DJ Whitney Fierce, and Manchester-based arranger Joe Duddell (who has worked with Elbow and New Order).
