Jónsi, frontman for Iceland’s Sigur Rós, has released a new solo song, “Simple Gifts.” It’s taken from the soundtrack to The Circle, a new film that stars Emma Watson, Tom Hanks, Karen Gillan, John Boyega, Patton Oswalt, and Bill Paxton. It’s based on the novel by Dave Eggers, who co-wrote the screenplay with director James Ponsoldt (The End of the Tour). The movie and soundtrack are both due out April 28, with Danny Elfman composing the score. Jónsi’s song is an interpretation of a traditional Shaker song. STX Recordings/Sony Masterworks are releasing the soundtrack. Listen to the song below (via Pitchfork), followed by Sigur Rós’ upcoming North American tour dates.
