Legendary ‘90s shoegazers Slowdive have announced a new album, a self-titled affair and their first full-length in 22 years, and shared a video for a new song, “Sugar For the Pill.” Slowdive is due out May 5 via Dead Oceans. Slowdive have also announced that they are live streaming tomorrow’s show in London (see below for details). Also below is the “Sugar For the Pill” video, followed by the album’s tracklist and cover art. Plus below are the band’s upcoming tour dates.

Slowdive reformed in 2014 and have been playing shows. There were promises that they were working on new music and back in January they finally shared “Star Roving,” their first new song in 22 years (that’s below again too). It sounded like vintage Slowdive. The band’s full line-up is back: Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Christian Savill (guitar), Nick Chaplin (bass), Rachel Goswell (vocals), and Simon Scott (drums, electronics).

Slowdive was recorded at The Courtyard in Oxfordhsire and mixed at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound by Chris Coady (Beach House). Halstead had this to say about the album in a press release: “When you’re in a band and you do three records, there’s a continuous flow and a development. For us, that flow re-started with us playing live again and that has continued into the record.”

Slowdive will be live streaming their show tomorrow (March 29) at London’s The Garage, which is the same venue where they played their original final show in December 1993. The stream goes live at 4:10 p.m. eastern time at www.facebook.com/slowdive. The band’s last album was 1995’s Pygmalion. Slowdive broke up that year, although some of the members went on to form Mojave 3.

We interviewed Slowdive’s Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell in 2014 about the reunion and posted various articles on the band. Read our print magazine article on Slowdive’s reunion. Read our separate interviews with Neil Halstead and Rachel Goswell about the reunion. Finally read our interview with Halstead and Goswell about the bands that inspired Slowdive.
