While the future of Sonic Youth has been thrown into question by the marital spit between bandleaders Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon, band member Lee Ranaldo has been busy striking out on his own, recording forthcoming solo album Between the Times & the Tides. Out March 20 via Matador, the album features cameos from Sonic Youth collaborator Jim O‘Rourke and drummer Bob Bert.
2012 tour dates are in the works and set to be released shortly.
