All Out Sept. 17

Elvis Costello
Next week sees the release of a number of noteworthy albums on Sept. 17, all of which are now streaming in full online. Perhaps the most anticipated new work is Wise Up Ghost, a unique collaborative effort between Elvis Costello and The Roots that began when the legendary singer/songwriter met the hip-hop collective during a visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
Next week also sees the self-titled debut of chamber pop composer Ellis Ludwig-Leone and his musical project San Fermin. Featuring intricate orchestral arrangements that recall the stylings of Dave Longstreth’s Dirty Projectors, Ludwig-Leone relinquishes vocal duties to the feminine harmonies of Lucius’ Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig and powerful baritone of his longtime friend Allen Tate.
Finally, next week sees Dinosaur Jr.‘s Lou Barlow reuniting with this band Sebadoh for Defend Yourself, the band’s first album in 14 years. All three albums are currently streaming at NPR’s First Listen. Click here, here, and here to listen to their respective efforts.
