Shape Shift With Me Due Out September 16 via Total Treble/INgrooves
Sep 08, 2016 Against Me!
Against Me! are releasing a new album, Shape Shift With Me, on September 16 via Total Treble/INgrooves. Previously the band shared the album’s first two singles, “333” and “Haunted, Haunting, Haunts,” as well as a video for “Crash.” Now you can stream the full album below via NPR First Listen.
Shape Shift With Me is the follow-up to 2014’s Transgender Dysphoria Blues and was recorded, mixed, and engineered by Marc Jacob Hudson (Taking Back Sunday, Saves the Day) at Rancho Recordo. Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace is one of the most high profile transgender musicians, but Shape Shift With Me is less political and more about that age old topic of love. “Tons of people have written about love. But while love is cliché, it’s infinitely relevant,” Grace recently said in a press release. “For me, having always been in a punk band that was expected to be political, I never felt like I had that option to write about feelings in that way. That’s what I ended up being drawn to this time. It’s writing in a way I thought I could never write before, and not giving a shit about expectations.”
Grace is also releasing a memoir, TRANNY: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout, on November 15, 2016 via Hachette Books. It was written with Noisey editor Dan Ozzi and features Grace’s never-before-published journal entries going back to childhood.
