Sufjan Stevens Announces Christmas Box Set
Listen to Included Track "Christmas Unicorn"
Just in time for the upcoming holiday season Sufjan Stevens has announced that he will release a five EP boxset called Silver & Gold: Songs for Christmas, Vols 6-10 on Nov. 13 through Asthmatic Kitty. Expanding on Stevens' 2006 release Songs for Christmas, the collection gathers recordings taken between 2006 and 2010 and is made up of both traditional classics and 18 original compositions. Throughout the effort Stevens will be joined by the likes of The National's Aaron and Bryce Dessner, Arcade Fire's Richard Reed Parry, Age of Adz collaborator Cat Martino, Inlets' Sebastian Krueger, and many others.
In addition to the packaged music - making it something really worth unwrapping - each box set will include lyric sheets and chord charts, temporary tattoos, Christmas stickers, a paper holiday ornament, extensive liner notes, and "hallucinogenic photographs and psychedelic graphic designs."
Silver & Gold will be available digitally and as a CD box set, with 2000 limited vinyl editions to be released later this year or in early 2013. Pre-orders can be found here.
