Sufjan Stevens Announces New Album, “Carrie & Lowell”

Sufjan Stevens has announced the release of Carrie & Lowell, his first album in five years. The follow-up to Stevens' 2010 LP The Age of Adz, the new record is set to come out March 31 in North America and March 30 in Europe via Asthmatic Kitty. 

According to a press release the album's title is in reference to Stevens' mother and stepfather, and that the included songs, a return to his "folk roots," are about "life and death, love and loss, and the artist's struggle to make sense of the beauty and ugliness of love."
